Rick RingerOperations Manager/Afternoon Host
First of all, yes, that’s my real name. When I first started working in Toronto, my boss at the time actually considered changing it, because ‘Rick Ringer’ sounded so…made-up and phony! This is all I’ve done since I was 18 (other than deliver pizzas for a short time). I’ve got radio in my blood (and the donor clinic will attest to that!) and I can’t imagine doing anything else. To get paid for entertaining people and being part of the lifeline of a community’s communications network is something that’s priceless to me. I’ve worked in Canada’s largest city, then a medium-sized one (Peterborough) and now my career path has brought me to Wasaga Beach. I guess while most people are climbing the corporate ladder, I’ve been going in the opposite direction. But that’s okay! I love living here and being part of the community. I met my beautiful wife Donna Lynn here, so Wasaga Beach will always be a special place, no matter where we may end up. I enjoy being part of the Wasaga Beach Lion’s Club, as a way to give back. And I love the roads around here, during motorcycle riding season. What a treat to enjoy the vista from the top of Blue Mountain as the sun sets on Georgian Bay, while on my two-wheeled steed! Helping start up 97.7 The Beach almost three years ago was one of the biggest challenges I’ve experienced, but also one of the most rewarding moments in my nearly 40-year career in radio. Thanks for listening and helping us grow to be part of your community. |
