Jeff Carson

Mid-Day Host

I was born in Listowel, where I grew up (not far from Kitchener and Stratford), as well as a bit out in the country in a small village named Kurtzville.  Listowel is also known as “Car City” and I am the only male member of my family who did not become involved some way in the car business.  And speaking of which… among my greatest regrets… not keeping my ’69 Cougar XR7.  I hope someone, somewhere, is taking good care of it.

After considering a career of some sort in biology, I ended up getting into radio, possibly inspired by the Clint Eastwood film “Play Misty For Me”, starting out in Thunder Bay doing all-nights in 1978, followed by Tillsonburg, Wingham, Kingston, Barrie and now... “the Beach”, an opportunity that I jumped at, helping launch “the Beach” after 17 years at the previous station.

Among my favourite pastimes, I enjoy working in the yard, constantly aiming to have the greenest, weed-free lawn on the street (as organically as possible, even before the pesticide ban; Gail handles the flowers, I’m just the lawn guy, but I find it’s a great way to unwind before relaxing on the deck).  And tearing around the house, providing much entertainment for us is Callie, our black and white miniature schnauzer, (a dog which has become my favourite breed).

On-air on “97.7 the Beach”, you can catch me Wednesday through Friday from 10am til 2pm, Saturdays from 12 til 7pm and Sundays from 11am til 4pm.  You may also find me walking down to the Beach before I'm on-air, catching a bit of fresh air at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
