Johnny MaracaHost of the Roots of Rock N Roll
Clark Kent’s alter ego was Superman. Mild-mannered copywriter John O’Mara morphed into Johnny Maraca nearly a decade ago, at the legendary Coach Inn in Owen Sound. In a room they call The Dark Side. London Ontario’s Black Holes were cooling off with libations after a hot set of rockabilly classics when drummer Sean Anderson said, "Johnny, we’ll have to get you on the stage." Johnny thought Sean was joking. Johnny should have known better. On their next visit to the Scenic City, the Black Holes called Johnny up to the stage in mid-set and handed him maracas. Johnny only needed one maraca to stun the crowd with a full on, in-your-face style of playing, the likes of which had never been seen before. A legend was born. Johnny Maraca researches the Roots of Rock and Roll with the help of his pet bird, Sam the Rockatiel… a rock and roll cockatiel. Sam loves rock and roll, and any song that has whistling in it. When Johnny switches back to John O’Mara he can be seen swinging tennis racquets and softball bats in the summer, and kickboxing his way through the winter. Even though Johnny Maraca spins tunes like Little Sister, he lives by the credo of Twisted Sister: You can’t stop rock and roll! |
