Jocelyn MartinAfternoon Co-Host / Weekends / Music Director / Sales/Promotions Assistant
Tell us about yourself: I’ve always been interested in media because my mum is a journalist and I always thought her job was so cool! But radio and television have always interested me, so after volunteering for a while at Rogers TV, I decided to go to Humber College for Radio Broadcasting. Since I had some TV experience, I knew that radio was something I wanted to do because it involved music, which I love – listening to it and playing it (trumpet and piano!) Plus I hope I can get people excited about things and to look on the bright side of things. From Humber, I went into promotions at the Rogers stations in Toronto and here I am at the Beach, weekend announcing and assisting with sales and promotions and loving that I can learn about all different aspects of radio. While I’m not doing radio stuff I’m hanging out with my fabulous family and friends. Born: In Toronto but grew up in the small town of Aurora so being in Wasaga Beach feels just like home! Real ambition: To always be learning something new! Last purchase: Delicious-smelling shower gel from Blue Mountain Village Favourite Word: Amazing. First Job: Besides babysitting? A day camp counsellor in Aurora. Before you were at the Beach: Rogers Radio in Toronto as a Promo Rep working events and concerts Indulgence: There are so many, it’s ridiculous but I would have to say, I’m obsessed with Pizza and my dad’s cooking! What you love about being on the radio: People can hear your voice anywhere in the world. That’s pretty powerful. Hidden Talent: I take latin/ballroom dance (Not sure if that’s an actual talent yet…maybe one day!) Unverified claim to fame: I met Michael Buble and Tony Bennett. Pets: My cat, Lucy. Favourite place in Southern Georgian Bay: Blue Mountain Village, it’s so cool, all the little shops! If I could change the world: Life would be one giant musical with singing and dancing! Your perfect day: Swimming and enjoying the sunshine. |
