Arson Charges Laid in Fire at Seniors Home
A 79-year-old man was arrested and held for a bail hearing.
Barrie Police are laying arson charges to a 79-year-old man in connection to the fire at Woods Park Care Centre.
Crews were called to the residence on Lillian Crescent Wednesday night and were able to contain the blaze to one room.
60 people managed to evacuate the floor safely and were put in rooms in another area of the building.
An investigation by Barrie Police and the Ontario Fire Marshall's Office have determined the fire was deliberately set.
The man was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation before being placed under arrest.
He is being held for a bail hearing.
