An Orillia man -- who is leading the charge for a clothing-optional beach in Wasaga Beach -- is confident naturists will be allowed to let it all hang out this summer.
John Cropper is the founder of Wasagabares and a director with the Federation of Canadian Naturists.
He wants the clothing-optional beach to be at the far east end of Beach Area 1, adjacent to the mouth of the Nottawasaga River, which Cropper says has been blocked off for a number of years.
It's about a half a kilometre long.
This past summer, about 20 members of Wasagabares gathered at that location and removed their clothes, and Cropper says it was to prove that naturists could get along with regular beachgoers.
He notes there was only one complaint.
In December, Town Council recommended the issue be sent to the Tourism and Events Advisory Committee for discussion.
Cropper says he feels he has support at the municipal level but is getting the run-around from the Ministry of Natural Resources.
