There is a special memorial in Meaford to mark the 11th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. The Meaford and District Fire Department will unveil the 9-11 Firefighters Memorial on Tuesday night. The ceremony will begin at 7 PM and the public is invited. As we first told you months ago -- the fire department was one of only six in Canada to secure a support beam from the World Trade Centre in New York City. The steel beam is about 20 feet in length and weighs a tonne. It will be unveiled outside the Fire Hall on Stewart Street in Meaford. The fire department fundraised to have the memorial site designed and constructed as a resting place for the artifact.
