Early Eggs for Piping PloversWasaga Beach | by Mariane McLeodFirst Piping Plover egg is on the beach -- four days earlier than last year. Spring has come very early for the endangered birds that have taken over part of Wasaga Beach each year for the last few years. The first Piping Plover egg is on the beach today -- four days earlier than the first egg in previous years. There are five piping plovers so far at the beach. They arrived April 16th, according to simcoe.com. At least three of the plovers have leg bands that tell officials they hatched in Wasaga Beach.
