Troubled Cop ResignsBarrie | by Mariane McLeodBarrie police officer resigns six months into lengthy hearing about his conduct.
A troubled Barrie city police officer has resigned, six months into a lengthy hearing into his conduct. Constable Nathan Bowman had been charged with discreditable conduct, accused of flirting with a suspect and letting her play with his gun after responding to a domestic assault call. He abruptly resigned from the force on Monday -- forcing an end to the hearing. Bowman was also charged criminally in the same incident, but the Crown dropped the charges. The hearing about Bowman's future started six months ago and was plagued by delays from motions brought by his lawyers. Bowman was found not guilty last month, along with two other Barrie officers, in a police brutality case. Impaired driving charges he faced six years ago were dropped.
