Two people are recovering after being plunged into the frigid waters of Cook's Bay.

South Simcoe police were called to the south end of the bay just before 7:30 PM on Saturday after someone found an overturned canoe.

Marine units responded but didn't find anyone near the canoe.

Police found the occupants in Gilford, which is south of Innisfil, a short time later.

The 27 year old man and 23 year old woman, both from Mississauga, had been out canoeing and perch fishing when the canoe capsized.

The two, who were wearing life jackets, managed to swim to shore.

The two were very cold, but otherwise okay.
