67's, Rangers Avoid EliminationBarrie, Kitchener | by Bayshore News StaffSemifinals shift back to Ottawa and Plymouth for Game 7 in OHL playoffs.
There will be one more bus ride to Ottawa for the Barrie Colts. The visiting 67's avoided elimination on Sunday and forced a seventh and deciding game in their OHL conference semifinal series. Ottawa built a 3-0 lead on goals by Tyler Toffoli, Steven Janes, and Tyler Graovic and hung on to beat the Colts 3-2 in Game 6 at the Barrie Molson Centre. Greg Sutch got one back for Barrie late in the second period then Alex Lepkowski scored two minutes into the third to cut the 67's lead down to one. The Colts had a chance to tie the game up later in the period. Erik Bradford had a wide open net but took a cross-ice pass from Josh MacDonald on a 2-on-1 and missed the net. Petr Mrazek made 25 saves for the 67's, Mathias Neiderberger stopped 28 shots for the Colts. Game 7 will be in Ottawa on Tuesday night. Meanwhile in Kitchener -- Ryan Murphy had a goal and an assist as the Rangers avoided elimination by beating the visiting Plymouth Whalers 4-2. Ben Thomson and Cody Sol also scored for the Rangers while Curtis Meighan's goal five minutes into the third period stood up as the game winner. The two clubs meet back in Plymouth for Game 7 on Tuesday night.
