Carey Price made 21 saves for his 100th career win and Max Pacioretty had two goals and an assist and Montreal ended a 6-game losing skid with a 5-1 win over Philadelphia. Just before the game, the Canadiens fired Assistant Coach Perry Pearn. He was responsible for the team’s power play which had been struggling all season.

Elsewhere, the Calgary Flames snapped Colorado’s 6-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory over the Avalanche. And, St. Louis blanked Vancouver 3-nothing. The Canucks lost for the second time in 2 nights.

In O-H-L action, Mark Schiefele [SHY-flee] made his season debut with the Barrie Colts picking up a pair of assists. But it wasn’t enough as the Colts dropped a 5-3 decision in Belleville. Barrie’s next game is Friday night in Brampton.

Game Six of the World Series was postponed last night because rain was in the forecast for St. Louis. Game Six goes tonight, with the Texas Rangers holding a three-games-to-two series lead over the Cardinals. The pitching match-ups remain the same -- Jaime (HY'-mee) Garcia for the Cardinals against Colby Lewis of the Rangers.

Canadians added two more gold medals to their collection at the Pan American Games in Mexico. Philippe Beaudry successfully defended his fencing title in the individual sabre final, and the women's K-4 500-metre squad won gold in the paddling event.

In high school football…both divisions of the C-C-I Fighting Owls will finish up their regular season this afternoon. The Jr. Owls take the field at Bear Creek in Barrie at 1:30. The Sr. Owls will follow suit at 3:30.
