Regional | by Mariane McLeod
Organizers say about 30 thousand people braved wet weather for food, music event.

Organizers of the Foodstock protest claim as many as 30-thousand people turned out for the event in Sunday's chilly, wet conditions.

The gathering, at a farm near Honeywood, put 100 chefs from across Canada in the woods, cooking for the crowds, to showcase local food.

The chefs are part of a growing movement battling a massive quarry plan for property purchased by the Highland Companies over the last few years.

The company, controlled by a hedge fund in Boston, has applied to dig a 23-hundred acre gravel pit.
