A 17 year old boy in Barrie found out early Sunday what it's like to be hit by a police Taser.

Police say the boy was brandishing a knife when officers arrived at reports of a disturbance at a home in the city's north end.

Barrie police say the boy advanced towards the responding officers and that's when they used the taser to subdue him.

He was taken to Barrie's hospital for a psychological exam.
