No Job for Commander

Borden | by Phil Birchard
Former CFB Borden Commander loses bid to return as head of base.

The former Military Base Commander at CFB Borden has lost his bid to return as head of the base, after he was stripped of his job for inappropriate behaviour in July 2008.

The Toronto Sun reports Captain John Frederick Schmidt was removed from power at Base Borden after he was drinking alcohol, and inappropriately touched two junior female officers.

The 30 year veteran went to a federal court, looking for a review of his removal, but a judge recently tossed out the request.

Schmidt was posted at Base Borden in February 2008.

He's since been appointed Director General of Finance with Chief of Maritime Staff.
