Clearview Councillor Dies After Fighting Leukemia

Condolences are pouring in for Clearview Township Councillor Ed Christie.

Condolences are pouring in for Clearview Township Councillor Ed Christie.

Christie died on Saturday after fighting Leukemia. He was 79.

Clearview Mayor Doug Measures says he is deeply shocked at the sudden passing of "our Ward 1 Councillor..".

"He was a dedicated servant to Clearview and inspired us all to do better" "RIP Ed. We will miss you".

Collingwood Deputy Mayor Keith Hull says "Ed was very kind to me in the 20 years I knew him and was never shy to share his opinion which I greatly appreciated."

Hull further says, "As a former Councillor the flag at Collingwood's Town Hall has been lowered in remembrance of Ed's service to the community he loved."

As well as a local politician, Ed Christie opened Ed Christie Men's Wear in downtown Collingwood in 1976.

The funeral service for Ed Christie will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 5 at Trinity United Church in Collingwood.
